This is our final class using the 2024 coding manuals.  All three 2025 coding manuals will be available by the end of the year.  This course is designed for students who are preparing to take an AAPC CPC® or AHIMA CCS-P® certification exam. Upon completion of the course, the student will take a mock examination that will assess the student’s readiness for the actual certification exam.

Course Description: This comprehensive course is designed to provide students with the foundational knowledge and practical skills required for a career in medical coding.  In this course, students will learn and apply the coding guidelines found in the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM), and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) coding manuals. Students will also learn how to accurately code various medical procedures, diagnoses, and services, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and maximizing reimbursement for healthcare providers.

Live Lecture Schedule:  Every Monday  and Wednesday from October 28, 2024 through November 20, 2024 during the following times depending on your Time Zone.  

  • Central Time:  6:30 PM to 8:30 PM
  • Eastern Time:  7:30 PM to 9:30 PM
  • Pacific Time:  4:30 PM to 6:30 PM

Prerequisites:  Basic knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy is strongly recommended but not required.  If you have not taken a Medical Terminology course, then you may enroll in one of our Medical Terminology classes when available. Alternatively, you may use a medical dictionary, search engine for terms, or a Medical Terminology book, such as Ann Ehrlich’s “Medical Terminology for Health Professions”. Used Medical Terminology books are also available for purchase online and may be used with this course. Please review the section at the bottom of the page regarding healthcare organizational background checks.

Assessment: Students will be assessed through quizzes, coding assignments, practical applications, and a final exam.  Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a Certificate of Completion.

  • 2024 AMA CPT® Professional
  • 2024 AAPC HCPCS Level II Expert
  • 2024 AAPC ICD-10-PCS Expert (Inpatient Coding)

*Students may use their own coding manuals or the free PDF versions of the ICD-10-CM, HCPCS and ICD-10-PCS coding manuals that are included in this course.
